For 1922 the Sunbeam 16 was revised, and reappeared as the 16/40. It featured a 3016cc four cylinder overhead valve engine and Claudel Hobson carburettor with semi-elliptic suspension (underslung at the rear). Four wheel brakes became available in 1923. The 16 Sports was not carried over.
Approximately 895 examples of the 16/40 were built.
