The closure of the Linwood plant spelled the end for the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. This left Peugeot-Talbot without a car for the World Rally Championship. In any case the Audi Quattro was changing the face of rallying. The future was driven by four wheels instead of two.
To fill the void Peugeot-Talbot and Lotus began to collaborate again, this time on a Talbot Horizon fitted with a mid-mounted Lotus engine and, apparently, four wheel drive.
Unfortunately only one was built before it was decided instead to turn the Peugeot 205 into a rally winner.
