Sunbeam-Talbot 2 Litre

1939-1948

The 2 Litre of 1939 used a stretched Sunbeam-Talbot 10 chassis with the 1944cc four cylinder sidevalve engine from the Hillman 14. It had hydraulic drum brakes.

The engine produced 52bhp in its original form. As with the Ten, it received improvements after the war, which increased the output to 56bhp.

Bodies offered were saloon, tourer and drophead coupe. 1306 examples were made.

  1. Your photo is not a Sunbeam Talbot 2 Litre car.

Rather it is a Sunbeam Talbot 10 Two Seater Tourer of which 12 examples only were produced at the end of 1939, 4 being exported (and ran the gauntlet of the waiting U Boats). There are 3 survivors.

In January 1940 3 Sunbeam Talbot 2 Litre Two Seater Tourers only were produced and all exported – no known survivors
